We are pleased to inform you that Government of Nepal has announced plans to launch a Machine Readable Passport (MRP) project to replace its existing manual passport issuing system.
To kick the project off, the government has published a Pre-Qualification (PQ) notice for security printing, supply and delivery, installation of equipments and preparation of machine readable passports.
Major areas of the project include:
1. Design and security printing of MRP booklets with data page and visa pages conforming with Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Government of Nepal and ICAO 9303 requirements;
2. Supply and delivery of MRP booklets;
3. Supply and installation of equipment, machines and accessories at the Central Passport Office, MOFA;
4. Development of system software and database;
5. Development of personalisation system;
6. Preparation of MRP;
7. Training of Nepalese government officials in Nepal and abroad;
8. Secure MRP issuance application software and printing system.
With the exception of the security printing of the MRP booklets, the project will be carried out at the Central Passport Office at Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Interested firms can purchase application forms within 45 days of the first publication of the notice
